2007 – 2008 MARKET REPORT
Dear Trapper:
Last season
proved very disappointing compared to the previous year’s record
levels. You must realize the fur
market is very volatile, unfortunately
this is something we have no control over. Below are my conservative price
levels for 2007 – 2008 season. Prices
are in Canadian Dollars.
SABLE Very
Good Demand. Would be happy with last
May’s sale levels.
TOP – XXL $95-$100, XL $80-$85,
LGE $75, MED $45.
AVE – XXL $70-$75, XL $60-$75, LGE $50-$55, MED
$28-$32
These averages – Free of
third sections and inferior goods.
WILD MINK Fair
Demand. Select - #1, XXL $24, XL $22, LGE $18, LMED
$14, MED-SM $12 - $9.
FISHER Very
Good Demand. Select-#1,
clear LGE $70 - $95, MED&SM $85 - $75.
LYNX Good Demand. For pale, heavy XL $225,
LGE $200, LMED $150, MED&SM $100.
Light brown 35% less, brown 60% less.
All Lynx should be trapped after December
15 for better color.
LYNX CAT Good Demand. XL&LGE,
clear, pale $250-$350, light, tawny $200-$250, MED&SM, clear, pale $125-$130,
tawny $90-$110, brown XL&LGE $75 - $85, MED&SM $40-$45.
BOB CAT Good
Demand. #1, brown XL&LGE $65 -
$55, MED&SM $25-$35.
BEAVER Good

POLAR BEAR Excellent
Demand. Select #1, XXL-XL $5,000 - $4,000.

good quality and color $300 - $400 per lineal foot, off colors & #2’s, $150
- $200 per foot. Lower
grades, at market.
Please do not hunt Polar Bears too early
– hunt them at the end of December.
GRIZZLY BEAR Excellent
Demand. Heavy, prime XXL&XL, $4,000 - $3,000,
LGE
$1,200 - $1,500.
COUGAR Very Good Demand. Prime, Tom #1 - $375 -
$400, LGE $275.
BLK/BRN BEAR Good Demand. XXL – XL,
heavy #1 - $175 - $150, LGE $90 - $110,
MED – SM $50 - $35.
PLEASE NOTE Lynx Cat, Bob Cat, Timber Wolf, Bears,
Cougar and Wolverine should
have paws and lips
left on, pads preferably for taxidermy purposes. This will bring you a premium price. As mentioned above, paws on Arctic Wolves
should be left on in a “Fist Form”
not skinned out individual claws.
